Working on behalf of CadyMatic, JCS were able to develop a new product concept (Ranger 1) and have a working prototype designed, assembled and in the field in just 8 days.
The device clipped onto a powered golf trolly and was able to inform the golfer the distance that he had just hit a ball from the tee, or how far was left to the centre or front of the green.
The unit was developed using an ST6 embedded controller which directly interfaced with a 4 digit LCD display.
Ranger measured distance from the rotation of the trolly wheel using a magnetic pick-up. The system was powered from the trolly's 12 volt DC supply.
Individual hole statistics were programmed into the unit using a user friendly two button interface.
