In 1991 Glentronics International approached Jotax to develop a modem for Data General. The product was to be for a new laptop which was just being finished in Germany.
At this time Jotax was "up to speed" on the then modem technology having been involved in re-engineered a Rockwell modem for Tulip Computers earlier in the year.
The final result (above) caused a stir when it was unveiled because it brought together the embedded controller of Sierra Semiconductors to drive the modem chipset of Rockwell.
At the time both Rockwell and Sierra had their own individual modem solutions. This is typical of the Jotax design philosophy. Wherever possible the best solution for a any given task will be sought out and implemented.
