The JT116 (MCC) was designed to allow several serial products to access a single target product (many into one) without suffering data conflicts. The MCC achieves this by time multiplexing incoming serial data and routing it in it's proper turn to the target hardware.
Four versions of the MCC have been developed providing a cost effective route to market for all complexities of system.
Each MCC port is software programmable for RS232 or RS422 operation. Also, each port is supported by it's own 16450 FIFO UART chip with an independent 2K buffer.
Hardware and software flow control are individually programmable for each port. Also configurable are port speeds, multiplexing time periods and data routing.
An added feature of the MCC is it's ability to support
modem communications. When linked to the Mitsubishi FX /A1S range of PLC's the MCC is able to monitor specific data registers for alarm values. In the event of an alarm the MCC will dial a pre-programmed modem number to report the alarm, allowing off site engineers to acknowledge and respond to unscheduled plant events.
All parameters are user configurable and are saved in non-volatile memory on power down.
